Youth Ministry Round Up #166

Greetings Awesome Person,

ABC's of Youth Ministry

N is for No.

Yep no. It's the most powerful word in your arsenal of words and you should get used to saying it in various ways and for various reasons.

  • No, I can't do that, it's my family time (setting priorities)
  • No, I can't do that but I can... (being flexible)
  • No, I won't do that, it will affect my reputation (the inner voice no)
  • No, just no (setting your convictions)
  • No, we're not adding that to our program (being focused)

What's the difference between Yes people and No people?

"Yes" people prioritize harmony with others over the quality of their own work.

"No" people prioritize boundaries to protect their own productivity.

How often should you say No?

To your students? It depends.

To your Pastor? Sometimes.

To sin? All the time.

To God? Never.

No is a powerful word and you should use it as often as needed because it could be the difference between burnout and your best living.

“What you don’t do determines what you can do.” - Tim Ferriss

“The difference between successful people and really successful people is that really successful people say no to almost everything.” - Warren Buffet, famed investor

But let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No,’ ‘No.’ For whatever is more than these is from the evil one. Matthew 5:37

Go be awesome!

Paul
