Youth Ministry Round Up #167

Greetings Awesome Person,

ABC's of Youth Ministry

O is for Oops!

How many things will you regret because you were afraid of trying something new because of what others might think?

I saw a comment on Instagram and I responded by trying something new.

Trying new things has become second nature to me because I know the damage is borderline imaginary.

  • I made a Youth Ministry Playbook for youth pastors not because you asked for it but because I wanted to create it.
  • I made a Bible Escape Room based on Paul and Silas not because I thought it would be fun, I don't care if everyone buys it.
  • I started a podcast and a youtube channel that reaches thousands of youth workers, but what would have happened if I always cared (because sometimes I do) about what others thought?

I have more Oops! than I have successes but it's the Oops! that made the successes as successful as they were.

To gain the boldness to try new things, you must try new things, over and over and over again. When you discover that failure will not kill you or define you trying new things just becomes normal.

If you're not trying new things in youth ministry because you're afraid of what others may think, it's a trap!

Fear of man will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the LORD is kept safe. Proverbs 29:25

I wish I had gotten over this sooner. Where would I be I had?

If you're doing youth ministry, the Oops! will come in due time but don't let the Oops! hold you back from what could be.

What will you try this week?

Paul

P.S. If you need coaching, I'm a professional Oops-ologist and would love to help you navigate your Oops! on you way to success.
